The Mitosis Table was created from industrial joist beams made of sustainably forested laminated wood. These beams were then laminated together into a solid block and sculpted into the final form by Aaron R. Thomas. After weeks of working out every curve and straight line the piece was sanded to a smooth finish and then painted with a translucent white to allow the natural beauty of the manufactured wood show through. Finally, the entire piece was coated with an industrial strength clear coat which serves as a both a sealant and protectant making this piece not only waterproof, but durable for years to come. This table measures 72″ X 21″ X 18″ and weighs almost 600lbs while maintaining a visual lightness and unobtrusive presence.
