The Garbo Table: Anne Ewen & Aaron R Thomas

We are feeling quite amorous of our new sleek design: an invisible elegant sultry goddess of a table. We thought of calling it the speechless table because we wanted a name as simple and clean as the design. Something that would not mar its subtle sensuality. The thesaurus lists “garbo” as a synonym.

Greta Garbo. Listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the Most Beautiful Woman in the World and remembered as much for her love of seclusion as for her elegance.

Garbo was considered one of the most glamorous movie stars of the 1920s and 1930s. She was also famous for shunning publicity, which became part of her mystique. Except at the very beginning of her career, she granted no interviews, signed no autographs, attended no premieres, and answered no fan mail. Her famous byline was always said to be, “I want to be alone,” spoken with a heavy accent which made the word ‘want’ sound like vont. This quote as noted comes from her role in Grand Hotel. However, Garbo later commented, “I never said, ‘I want to be alone.’ I only said, ‘I want to be left alone.’ There is all the difference.” wikipedia

Now we can think of no more fitting sobriquet, So we’ll call her the Garbo Table to better savor their shared mystery and elusiveness.
