AARON R. THOMAS AND DESIGNLUSH DEBUT “GOLDLUSH” AT DIFFA’S DINING BY DESIGN
Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS (DIFFA) annual Dining By Design in New York City, March 22-26, brings together decadent cuisine along with unparalleled creativity for a week of glamour. Showcased during the Architectural Digest Home Design Show the event is a must for and design aficionados and tastemakers alike.
Aaron R. Thomas is pleased to announce his one-of-a-kind masterpieces will be showcased at Dining By Design at the DESIGNLUSH for MPI booth. With DESIGNLUSH’s “GOLDLUSH” theme on hand Aaron R. Thomas collaborated with the lauded New York Design Center boutique showroom to recreate a ’60s mod-inspired metallic haven. Their storyboard looked to Audrey Hepburn clad in Paco Rabanne’s gold disc dress for glimmering design cues. Channeling Bond à la original Goldfinger every detail features rocket science design fit for 007 himself. Working with acrylic’s unforgiving nature each Aaron R. Thomas bronze smoked acrylic Form chair with faux silver fox upholstery is handcrafted from a single sheet of Lucite. With only one chance to form the sheet into a standing chair precise temperature, time and geometry are calculated in the crafting of each piece. Naturally, “GOLDLUSH” is weighing in heavy metal (literally!), featuring liquid metal-sprayed wine bottles as tabletop centerpieces—a 3M technology reserved for a handful of craftsmen in the country. VIP guests will take home original Aaron R. Thomas x DESIGNLUSH 24-karat gold-sprayed Kona coffee tree coasters in a handcrafted bronze smoked acrylic box.
The first of many more to come, this collaboration between Aaron R. Thomas and DESIGNLUSH has produced a mod masterpiece fusing glamour and elegance with advanced handcrafted design technologies. The designs will be unveiled for five-days at Dining By Design, located at Pier 94, 55th St. at 12th Ave., New York City.
